Dry Ice in Sandusky, Ohio

Dry Ice — Dry Ice on Bucket On Office in Sandusky, OH
Polar Pure Water offers dry ice for all of Sandusky, Ohio and the surrounding areas. Dry ice has many uses other than for flash freezing and cooling purposes.

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. When dry ice begins to melt it goes through the process of sublimation, where it is going from its solid state back to its original state of gas resulting in fog. This “fog” is a reason that dry ice can also be used for decorations or special effects as well as for your commercial needs for shipping items that need to stay cool.

Our ice is available for pick only in blocks with a minimum of 5lbs plus tax. We offer large volume discounts if necessary. Call us to schedule a pick up or stop by our office in Sandusky, Ohio Monday through Friday between 1PM and 4PM.

Dry Ice Storage and Facts

  • Dry ice is better than wet ice for keeping foods frozen or extremely cold because it turns to a gas, not water.
  • Dry ice can extend the life of wet ice by approximately 40 hours when small amounts of wet ice are placed on top of dry ice.
  • Dry ice has approximately 15 times more cooling capacity than the same amount of wet ice, and can last approximately 5 times longer.
  • For temporary storage (up to 12 hours) of dry ice, place wrapped ice in an insulated container. Do NOT store dry ice in a working freezer or refrigerator, as the air flow will reduce the effective life of the dry ice.
Keep dry ice wrapped in paper (newspaper, paper bag, etc.) or towels for safety. The insulation also will extend the life of the dry ice.

Dry Ice Use

For Cooling

When dry ice is used for COOLING, place in bottom of cooler or insulated container. Do not allow food or cans to have direct contact with dry ice – place an insulating material such as cardboard, wet ice or paper between dry ice and product.

For Freezing

When dry ice is used for freezing, place it on top of items you want frozen, with a separating layer of newspaper or cardboard.
